The position of Safety, Health & Wellbeing Officer is a new role
presenting the opportunity to contribute to the work of a respected

THE ROLE
To advise, report and communicate on safety, health and wellbeing
issues and to assist the management team in the development and
delivery of policy and practice.
To ensure that in all areas of the Trust health and safety risks are
identified and managed.
To ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation and
standards including training provision.
To promote a positive safety, health and wellbeing culture throughout
the organisation. Working closely with Human Resources, deliver and
implement Staff Wellbeing practices, associated events and activities.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Approximately five years? working in health and safety in an
environment where people live and work.
* A comprehensive knowledge of current health and safety
legislation, regulations and practice
* Experience dealing with regulatory and statutory bodies.
* Relevant qualifications such as Diploma/ Certificate (NVQ Level
5+) or equivalent
* Good organisational skills.
* Excellent record-keeping and report writing.
* Ability to deal with complex situations in a multi-stakeholder
environment in a sensitive and pragmatic way.
* Computer literacy, specifically a good working knowledge of
Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
* Full clean driving and ability to attend multi-site as needed.
DESIRABLE
* Experience of working in Housing, Construction, Facilities
Management, Maintenance or related environment
* IT knowledge of appropriate database software packages
* Current or previous experience working or volunteering in Housing,
and/or homeless related services.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
To review & monitor the safety, health and wellbeing policy, practices
and systems within the Trust; collaborate & communicate with
management and staff (through chairing the Safety Committee and other
ad hoc working groups as needed) on operational and policy matters and
advise on any areas requiring change;
To ensure that all areas of the Trust are the subject of health and
safety inspections, providing a full report on the findings and
develop action plans with the responsible manager for continuous
improvement
COMPLIANCE & TRAINING
Regularly review and/or develop health and safety policies,
procedures, processes and practices to ensure that the Trust is
compliant with relevant legislation. _In particular that the safety
systems applied by the Trust in the use of water (legionella), gas,
electricity and fire emergencies are appropriate and robust._
Full responsibility for the preparation and continual review of risk
assessments as necessary including developing an action plan for the
delivery of identified risk controls.
Develop, monitor and manage a training database and the delivery of
training programmes to staff to ensure compliance with all Health and
Safety training requirements.

Monitor the management of Covid-**Apply on the website** mitigation
measures in place by the Covid-**Apply on the website** Committee and
management and provide regular updates in line with changes in
government and public health guidelines.
Review existing policy, procedure, practices and processes as
required. Provide support to the committee and representatives in

INVESTIGATIONS
Take responsibility for implementing a robust incident /accident
management system to encourage reporting and to reduce and/or
eliminate risks/hazards; part of the system will include carrying out
post incident / accident investigation, completing reports on
investigation outcomes including corrective actions log; drive the
corrective actions completion and as necessary inform, develop and
propose changes in safety procedures.
THIRD PARTY CONTRACTORS
Support and advise maintenance and estate management in regards to
managing contractors on site.
WELLBEING
Promote and champion health and wellbeing for staff through the
development, delivery and implementation of a new Staff Wellbeing
Policy, associated events and activities including an annual Staff
Wellbeing Week and regular wellbeing communications/updates.
Lead on planning and delivery of staff wellbeing campaigns and regular
initiatives throughout the year aligned with national campaigns such
as ?National Workplace Wellbeing Day?, ?Mental Health
Week/Day? etc.
BUDGET MANAGEMENT ??manage and report against budget as
required;?in conjunction with the Human Resources Manager develop
plans to achieve financial targets and cost controls.
QUALITY MANAGEMENT ??Ensure all required records are up-to-date and
accurate and provide reports as necessary to management and to fulfil
compliance with external regulation and Iveagh Trust standards.
